The Temptation Is Not The Sin

July 31, 2015

A song says yield not to temptation for yielding is sin.
The writer clarifies the thought going on in the mind of some who think to be tempted means they have sinned, but who fail to acknowledge the sin occurs when they yield to the call of the temptation.
People are daily faced with temptation and choices are always before us – The choice to yield and the choice not to yield.
Being godly or spiritual doesn’t exempt you from being tempted but a close walk with God helps you not to yield to temptation.
I would like to end this by quoting a song

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each vict’ry will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.
Refrain:
Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen, and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.
Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s name hold in rev’rence, nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown,
Through faith we will conquer, though often cast down;
He who is our Savior, our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.
